Tiger rode mainly in Western Australia, although he also rode in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and Singapore.
Not one to spend much time away from home he was a keen golfer and fisherman. He was popular with the public because he always had a smile for people, even when he had just lost a race. Not one to use the whip, he built a rapport with the horses and was regarded as a good judge of pace. This was the key to his success. He loved horses and racing from an early age.
He was also very competitive in any sport he took on, playing golf on a handicap of 2, he played golf mainly at Royal Fremantle and Yokine. Later in life, he was a keen player of lawn bowls.
